Sarah Greenhow

Sarah Greenhow (formerly Maxted) has been teaching Babysalmesang in English since 2021, and is currently leading the weekly classes in Sydhavn and Glostrup, and the monthly baby and toddler classes in Vesterbro.

Sarah is a British singer who trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. She is an experienced church musician and music educator, having previously taught baby and toddler classes at The Little London Music School and worked in the music team at St Martin-in-the-Fields church in London.

Some words from Sarah about Babysalmesang:

It’s so much more than just a music class for babies! It’s based on in-depth studies about the power of musical and sensory stimulation for infant development, but it also goes beyond that. The thing that makes the Babysalmesang experience so unique, and – in my opinion – magical, is the space it creates for new families to enjoy togetherness, mindfulness, and joy in the present moment. It really is an experience of quality time and bonding, encouraging eye-contact between parent and baby, whilst all the adults sing together and share rhythm and movement with their little ones. Because Babysalmesang uses traditional hymns and children’s songs and takes place in the beautiful church space, there is also a feeling of belonging, being at the heart of the community, and connecting with a sense of something larger than ourselves.

Some words from Nina about babysalmesang:

Babysalmesang has a special place in my heart. I went to classes with my daughter when I was on maternity leave and was deeply moved by the effect music and dancing in the church had on all of the children and parents. I signed up for the certification course as soon as I had a chance and have been teaching classes in Danish in various churches in the Copenhagen area since then.
